THE QUEEN'S SWORDSMEN

The Queen's Swordsmen began as a desire by the team's founder Richard Rivera to return to sword combat work. Richard had choreographed staged sword battles while he was a theatre major at college and he wanted to re-sharpen his blade skills. That desire led Richard back into staging rousing new sword fight routines with broadswords, English cut and thrust swords and rapiers.

Co-founder Zack Bonin is a Fantasy aficionado who has had a long held dream of mastering the great swords he has read about in classic Fantasy novels. When Richard approached Zack about partnering together in creating sword combat action, Zack was ready with some awesome blade work ideas.

When the choreographed sword battles were completed and rehearsed, it became clear that it wasn't enough to just have two swordsmen clanging blades at each other on stage - something very important had to be at stake for both fighters in order to draw audiences into the action. What better place to find that needed dramatic spark than from the plays of William Shakespeare? Now, each clash of swords is staged around a dynamic battle scene from a gripping Shakespearean play.

Although The Queen's Swordsmen has only been in existence for a few months, we are already thrilling audiences at Renaissance Faires with our swashbuckling sword action. Schools are discovering that The Queen's Swordsmen also provides an unforgettable educational experience for students by bringing to life both the Elizabethan theatre and the plays of Will Shakespeare.
